COMMISSION WORK
As an Edmonton fibre artist,
my passion is in creating unique, custom fibre art pieces for my clients and
interior designers throughout the area. I specialize in offering pieces that include the ancient arts of macrame, weaving, crochet, felting and other fibre application techniques.
How does commissioning a custom fibre art piece work?
Step 1: Gather inspiration!
The custom fibre art process begins with gathering inspiration. Sharing your inspiration will help me grasp the ideas you have and the kind of piece you want commissioned.
The easiest way my clients gather their inspiration is via a Pinterest board. You can send me various sources of inspiration from Instagram as well.
In addition to visual inspiration, I will also send you a brief yet in-depth questionnaire
to help me gain more insight into what it is that you envision and want for your new art piece.
Step 2: Initial Proposal Design + Deposit
Once we have your inspiration details worked out,
I'll provide a formal proposal and a digital design of the piece for you to approve.
Included in your digital mock-up, will be a selection of fibres and colour palette.
If you're local to the Edmonton area, your investment includes delivery.
If you’re outside of city, shipping will be added to your proposal.
I require a deposit of 50% of the total investment before beginning your commission as well as a signed agreement for the commission work. The remaining balance is then due upon completion of your piece, and before your piece is delivered or shipped.
Your art investment can be paid via EMT, credit card or PayPal.
Step 3: Time to get started!
Once I have received your inspiration, questionnaire, approved design and deposit,
I will order all the materials for your commissioned fibre art piece.
Please kindly note that it may take up to two to three weeks to receive materials, if I don't have certain fibres on hand at the time of approval before I can get started.
FAQ: What is the approximate cost for a custom commissioned fibre art piece?
Custom commissions range between $20-65 per square foot depending on
the fibre selection, level of detail, and how the piece is finished (hanging or framed).
This price does not include shipping.
